There’s No god In My Bedroom

“Strange to hear atheists say ‘god’ when having great sex.”

—Toba Beta, Master of Stupidity

Do people really think that when an atheist says “oh my god”  or “god bless you” when someone sneezes (even sus if an atheist says ‘bless you”) or are in the throes of sexual pleasure say “Oh god!!”… that we are thinking of God, god?

These are expressions of speech, that most of us are encultured to think and say, with no more thought than we’d say, “can you pass the peas please.”

Trust me, there’s no god in my bedroom.

  1. Although I’m not an athirst–if it means one is sure there is no higher power–I am an atheist if it means I don’t think there is a higher power as described specifically in any of the traditional religions–simply because of the volumnous proofs we have of the errors in their scriptures and the contradictions they present to egalitarianism, reality, and fairness. But I cannot say I know for sure what the nature of any higher power would be, like muce who probably “know” of our existence, but have very little or no way to comment on it.

I defend afhiests because they are natural and decide not to add anything to the world as we have found it–especially nothing of a totalitarian dogma like religion–which when taught to children is child abuse.

Keep up the good fight. To me, the most important thing is love, and after that, intellectual honesty.

I like that pretty much. In this instance, I choose not to turn a fabulous physical/emotionalt/sexual experience into a religious or spiritual one. Is it not enough that its an amazing physical/emotional/sexual experience? I think so.

      • Sure, that’s cool. I don’t think it mwans that, per se 👀, when theists say it, though. I think they are uttering the most natural sound inculcated into them at a moment of awe. It’s a habit. I often say “ah-ee-go”, when I drop something or experience some other minor set-back, for the same reason. It’s actually a very interesting thing, like the result of an informal mini-social experiment. “ah-ee-go” (in case you don’t know) is a Korean expression, similar to “oops”, or. “oh, my gosh”. I don’t prefer to say it. It is a result of my time in Korea and the paucity of time I spend with my own people.

      • Yep I agree with that – I also know that there’s plenty of people who would say sex is a religious issue and a spiritual thing – I guess I am saying both, the words themselves are encultured … and following on from your comment about not needing to add to experience – that I don’t need an add on to experience, sex or otherwise.
